Northampton Borough News Release:

The best works by county artists to go on display in Northampton.

The largest visual arts event in the county is being launched at a special
exhibition opening at Northampton Museum and Art Gallery at the end of this

The exhibition marks the beginning of the 2011 'Open Studios
Northamptonshire' event which will see artists from across the county
opening their studio doors to the public during the first two weeks of

More than 200 painters, watercolourists, sculptors, furniture makers,
photographers, textile artists and potters will be taking part in the annual
event which is now in its 15th year. People will be able to step inside a
pottery, watch artists painting, see printmaking demonstrations and discuss
carving with stonemasons. Many of the artists' best pieces will be
displayed at the special exhibition which is located centrally at the Northampton museum.

Artist Carolyn Bushell said: "Northamptonshire Open Studios is delighted to
be welcomed back into the heart of the county at Northampton Museum and Art
Gallery to celebrate its 15th anniversary. It is always a pleasure to work
with the staff and this year's exhibition promises an exciting and vibrant
array of work that will have something for everybody."

The Open Studios central exhibition will be at Northampton Museum and Art
Gallery from 27 August until 9 October. Opening times are Tuesday to
Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday 2pm to 5pm. Admission is free. For more
