TREE PLANTING PROJECT

May Update

I am very grateful to all those who expressed an interest and a willingness to help with the tree planting project. Things are moving forward. Tree issues have been taken under the wing of Mike Barnes' Footpath Committee. With their backing, we have now made an application for a tree planting pack from the Woodland Trust as part of their Jubilee Woods Project which aims to plant 6 million trees to mark the diamond Jubilee. If we are fortunate to be granted a pack it will include a mix of around 400 trees -Ash, Silver Birch, wild cherry, common oak and rowan plus a "Royal Oak" sapling grown from an acorn from the Sandringham estate.

We are hoping we will know whether we have the trees in time for a tree planting weekend in November when we will need all the volunteers we can get.

If you can help, or need any info please contact me.
