Vandalism and Criminal Damage at Helmdon Primary School

Helmdon Primary School is really sad to have to report that the school building is suffering from frequent and regular vandalism.  The school staff have frequently found large outside bins thrown over and on the roof of the school, drain covers removed and deposited in locked areas and breakages of various school items.

The vandalism has been reported to Northamptonshire Police who will be keeping a close watch on the area and the school has been forced to spend their sparse resources on the following crime prevention measures:

The bottom playground has always been for the use of school children only albeit it has never previously been secured.  Locked Gates will be installed at the top of the steps between the top and bottom playgrounds with signs warning against trespass on the bottom playground.  The pedestrian gates leading to the bottom playground will be permanently locked outside the children’s pick up and drop off times during term times.

CCTV cameras will be installed in the bottom playground and further anti climb paint will be used on the school building.

It is extremely sad that the school have been forced to respond to such issues in our supposedly quiet and tranquil village.  If anyone sees any individual acting suspiciously or inappropriately on the site at any time, please either call Northamptonshire Police (999 for emergencies or 101 for non emergencies) or inform the Headteacher, Jacqui Johnson on head@helmdon.northants-ecl.gov.uk or 01295 768126.
