Village Notice Board

Press Release

Date: 12 March 2013

Issue: SNCPR1968

For Immediate Release

Changes to waste and recycling collection days

South Northamptonshire Council will soon begin implementing the first stage of improving the recycling service by moving to a four day collection week (Tuesday to Friday) from April 2013.

From 15 March we will write to all households telling you if your collection day will change or not. This information will also include a new collection calendar which will run from April until the new recycling scheme starts in your area.

The new recycling scheme will be phased in one area at a time between June and September and will see the recycling boxes replaced with a blue wheeled bin and the introduction of weekly food waste collections.

Councillor Dermot Bambridge, portfolio holder for environmental services said:
“Changing to a four day collection week will ensure that the service is more efficient and adaptable and will allow us to respond quicker in times of adverse weather.

“Householders will no longer have changes to collection days due to bank holidays except at Christmas when special arrangements are made.”
