Shared Ownership Week
South Northamptonshire Council (SNC) is reminding people who no longer qualify for the housing waiting ist to consider shared ownership. Shared ownership is part rent /part buy with the option of increasing share at a later date.
Shared Ownership week commences on the 18 – 22 March and offers people an option that is flexible, affordable and sustainable to a larger number of first time buyers.
Councillor Rupert Fordham, portfolio holder for economic development and regeneration said: “It can be difficult for first time buyers to get their foot on the ladder and purchase their first home, yet our aspirations of owning our home still remain strong.
“Shared Ownership has a growing part to play in today’s housing market and can benefit local communities as well as individuals. It is a well-established, recognised model that has already helped thousands buy their first home. Generally shared owners need to raise far lower deposits and on-going costs are lower as well.”
EMHomeBuy are the HomeBuy agent assigned by the government to assist potential home owners in the East Midlands to access all forms of Low Cost Home Ownership. As part of the National Housing Federations Shared Ownership week there will be a drop in event on Friday 22 March between 10am and 4pm at The One Stop Property Shop, The Guildhall, Northampton.
