Village Notice Board

A big thank you to everyone who came to Bookmarks 2013 and helped to make the event an enjoyable afternoon of literary entertainment. The readings from Adrian Magson, Alison McQueen and Garry O'Connor at St Mary's Church went down a storm, and the Q&A session afterwards proved to be as lively and interesting as we had hoped it would. What's more, the books for sale and the various literary stalls at the Reading Room were busy for much of the afternoon. The best news of all is that we managed to raise £767.00 for the humanitarian aid charity Hand In Hand For Syria. With all that is in the news at the moment, the money will make a big difference to the children and refugees affected by the on-going crisis. Thank you very, very much to everyone who dug deep and supported the cause. Also, thank you to everyone who volunteered on the day or made a cake for the event.

I should mention, we have a limited number of the festival Short Story Anthology still available. It is professionally printed 100 page book with 20 short stories in it, which we're selling for £5.00 a copy (all proceeds go to Hand In Hand For Syria). Please contact either myself, Maddi or Jane Barnes if you're interested in a copy.

Finally, photographs from the festival are beginning to surface online. Visit either facebook.com/bookmarksfestival or bookmarksfestival.co.uk to view them.
