WEA Ambassador, Dr Lawrence Goldman, is giving a fund fundraising lecture in Oxford on 15th May.

Lawrence has had a long association with the WEA in Oxford and his lectures are always very popular. He is also well known for his appearances on BBC programmes such as ‘In Our Time’ and ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ and his recent biography of R.H.Tawney has been very well received.

Elements of the Edwardian Crisis before the First World War

This lecture is part of the WEA’s WW1 commemoration.

Lawrence GoldmanMA PhD, Camb, MA Oxf, FRHistS, University Lecturer (CUF) in Modern History specialises in British and American History since 1750.   Since October 2004 he has been the Editor of the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography (ODNB), published by Oxford University Press. He is leaving Oxford in September to take up the post of Director of Historical Research at the University of London.
