The Astwell Benefice
St Mary Magdalene Helmdon with Stuchbury and St Lawrence Radstone
Hello from Your New Rector!
Hello, I’m Reverend Carole, the new Rector of the Astwell Benefice and your new Parish Priest.
I have been described as a cross between Bridget Jones and the Vicar of Dibley, although I look at lot more like Alice than Geraldine.
Now, if that doesn’t get me recognized, then you will see me driving around in a Blue VW Beetle Convertible with a Rev numberplate.
So all in all I won’t be hard to miss!
I hope, if you do see me, you’ll feel free to come up and introduce yourselves and don’t forget that everyone (churchgoer or not) is invited to come and have a drink with me at the “Meet the Rector” Evenings that will be taking place on Friday 4th of Oct in the Reading Room and also at a date yet to be arranged in Radstone.
I’ll also be popping into Parents and Tots and as many village events as I get invited to (– so do invite me!)
Basically, I really do want to get to know you and to find out how your parish priest and your Parish Church can best serve you.
Over the next few months you’ll also see some changes at your Parish Church. There will be a service every Sunday morning at 10am. Most will take place in St Mary Magdalene Helmdon, but every third Sunday of the month we will all be at St Lawrence, Radstone and our 8am Book of Common Prayer Communion has moved back to the first Sunday of the month.
As well as Holy Communion, there will be a new Parish Communion and a monthly Prayer and Praise service where local groups and people will be invited to choose the hymns.
And do look out for Messy Church – a new Sunday afternoon of activities, worship and food for the whole family, which will be starting up later in the year.
Everyone is really welcome to come along to any or all of our services whether you have been before or not.
It is your church and we would love to see you there!
I talked in my first sermon with you about the need for both Martha’s (the do-ers) and Mary’s (the be-ers) in church life and whether you would like to get involved in helping out or you simply want to come and enjoy the peace of the building.
You are always welcome.
I am joining you on what I hope will be a long and fulfilling journey through life together with you and I am here for you whenever you need me.
My contact details are below and you are more than welcome to call by or give me a ring or drop me an email.
The Reverend Carole Peters – Your New Rector!
