Help wanted for elections
Polite and professional people are being sought to help turn the wheels of democracy during elections in south Northamptonshire and Cherwell District this May.
Presiding officers, poll clerks and verification staff are all needed for the European election polls and counts in both areas, and for the council elections at Cherwell District Council (CDC) on Thursday, 22 May, 2014.
As well as playing an important role in the democratic process, successful applicants will also receive reasonable pay for their time.
Applicants must be confident they can work to a high level of accuracy and it is vital they are able to act impartially and maintain the secrecy of the ballot.
Attendance at a training session prior to the election is compulsory for all new presiding officers and poll clerks. Training for verification staff will be provided just before the count.
It is a legal requirement that presiding officers and poll clerks are over 18 years old.
