County School's Challenge Final
Wednesday 2 July at the Castle Theatre, Wellingborough
Secondary schools across the County have worked hard on creative and innovative ideas on how to tackle the negative effects of alcohol and alcohol-related crime. The majority of the schools aimed the challenge at Year 9 students, and have carried out in-house competitions to identify a winner to go forward to the semi-finals held on Thursday 5 June at Northamptonshire Police Force Headquarters. Students presented their business ideas to a panel of 'Dragon Den' style judges who had the difficult job of choosing eight teams to go through to the final on 2 July 2014 at 6pm.
The schools going through to the final are:
Corby Technical School
The Ferrers Schools
Brackley Magdalen School
Corby Lodge Park
Southfield School for Girls
Corby Kingswood Secondary Academy
The County Schools Challenge encourages students to think about the causes and consequences of peoples actions, as well as to identify solutions. The scheme recognises the valuable role that schools play in promoting messages that have a society-wide benefit and enables businesses and agencies to listen to and learn from young people. The successful delivery of this campaign to thousands of students should see a reduction of low level violence and increased tolerance towards others.
