Village Notice Board

The war memorial

A group is being formed to discover the history of the soldiers of the Great War on the Helmdon War Memorial. We feel that 100 years after the start of World War 1 is a good time to remember those who died for our country and to commemorate their courage and sacrifice.

We aim to finish the project by  11th November of this year and publish it on the website,  perhaps in the form of an e-book.

Some of the research has already been done (a few documents   being  in  the historical resources  section of this website)  but further information needs to be sought on the wider  internet, and there may be further information in Northampton Record Office, the Northampton Library and possibly elsewhere.

If you would like to join the group, please Audrey Forgham

e-mail or telephone 01295 768251  …  and indeed, if you live in the village and have any information to give us about your relative, we should be delighted  to hear from you.
