Brackley Police Station Update
I understand that there is concern amongst you regarding recent changes to Policing in your local area. Hopefully in this email I can clarify the situation for you. I also apologise for emailing you all together and ask that you pass this on to any other interested party. I have received so many queries regarding the situation it makes more sense to provide you all with one comprehensive response.
On 31st March Brackley Police Station front counter closed. A decision was taken at a senior level that there were insufficient visitors to the front counter for it to remain viable. This decision was out of our hands and not one that we welcomed.
Brackley Police Station will remain a base for my team and I. As it stands we consist of one Sergeant, four Police constables and two PCSOs. PCSO numbers are short and I have requested replacements, however no decision has been made as to when this will happen. We are still your Safer Community Team (SCT) and work a variety of shifts throughout the week covering the town and 32 villages.
The team make-up is:
Sergeant Michaela SIMONS
PC Chris BIRD
PC Gez SHILLITO
PC Mac MCCONNELL
PC Mark MITCHELL
PCSO Graham SUPPIAH
PCSO Colin BROOKS
The Response Teams, based at Towcester, gives policing to the whole of South Northants in additional to your SCT. These teams provide 24 hour coverage, seven days a week. The Response Teams will deal with emergencies and other incidents that need prompt attendance. Your SCT will still also respond to both of these type of situations but also deal with problem solving around longer term issues within the community.
If you need to speak to a local officer then you can still contact us via the generic team email address. This will then be allocated to the most appropriate officer. The email is SCT-SouthNorthantsBrackley@northants.police.uk
Unfortunately as we no longer have the front office facilities there are some services that will have to be diverted elsewhere.
· Any documents needing to be produced, i.e. driving licences etc. following a collision can be produced at any Police Station in any county. Therefore Daventry, Banbury, Buckingham or Bicester may be an alternative.
· Found property is a little more problematic. A found bicycle may be retained by the finder if possible and Police contacted by phone to advise. We can then arrange collection if appropriate or place an appeal to locate the owner. A wallet or other items will have to go to an alternative Police Station or ring 101 for advice.
Parish AGMs are now taking place and a representative from the SCT will endeavour to attend. This will be very dependent upon availability and if we are not able to attend we will send a report in our absence. Colin and Graham are working through these at present.
I appreciate that there will be other queries or issues to iron out as time goes on and we will listen to your concerns but please bear with us as we look to adjust our own way of working to accommodate the changes. Once PCSO replacements have been identified I will align them to specific villages and ensure that they make contact with you at the first opportunity. Until then cover will be provided by the officers listed above.
Thank you in anticipation
