Issue: SNCPR3349

For Immediate Release

SPLAT comes to October half-term

For the first time young people will be able to enjoy South Northamptonshire Council’s (SNC) SPLAT programme of children’s activities during the coming October half-term.

The summer SPLAT programme (Sport, Play, Leisure and ArTs) has attracted hundreds of bookings each summer for the last few years and includes a wide range of physical and creative activities, and exciting day trips.

The programme has been so successful it has been extended to cover the shorter school holidays.

Councillor Rosie Herring, SNC’s portfolio holder for community engagement and wellbeing said: “It’s clear from the popularity of the summer programme that parents and guardians have confidence in what the Council does to keep young people occupied over the holidays.

“And I have no doubt that part of that popularity comes from the fact the children do enjoy the exciting range of activities.”

The half-term SPLAT Activity Hub takes place at Brackley Leisure Centre and is available to all children aged between five and 15.

Highlights of the programme include Xplorer Orienteering sessions, a Halloween special, inflatable fun at Brackley Swimming Pool and a visit from a Northampton Saints Coach and Bernie the team mascot.

Other activities include: dodge ball, tag rugby, basketball, a bouncy castle, capture the flag, cricket, jewellery making, messy painting, and a mini Olympics.

SPLAT sessions take place between 9am and 5pm on every day during the week commencing Monday, 26 October. Registration opens at 8.30am.

Children can attend all or part of the session and parents can either book a place in advance or turn up on the day.

A full day (9am to 5pm) costs £17.95 (£89.75 for a full week) and a half day (9am to 3pm) costs £13.95 (£69.75).

Drop-in rates are £3 for one hour, or £5 for two hours.  Please note midday to 1pm is lunch-time and there will be no activities.

Parents can save 10 per cent if they book their child in for the whole week, £80 for a week of full day sessions, and £60 for week of half day sessions.

All activities are delivered by qualified and DBS-cleared Activity Leaders.

Children should bring their own snacks, lunch, drinks and suitable clothing.

Booking lines open Monday, 5 October and will remain open between 9am and 5pm until the end of half-term.
