As households stock up for another festive season, South Northamptonshire Council is urging people to be prepared for the leftovers.
Starting this week SNC is hosting a month-long sale of the blue recycling bins which will cost a one-off fee of £18, saving residents £12 on the usual price.
Hundreds of extra blue bins have been sold since SNC launched the recycling scheme in 2013, but with Christmas looming the Council wants to give residents more capacity to recycle paper, cardboard, plastic, glass and cans.
The sale starts Monday, 28 November and ends Saturday, 31 December 2016, during which time it is expected the district will produce 30 per cent more recycling.
Councillor Dermot Bambridge, SNC’s portfolio holder for environmental services said: “Most households find the standard blue bin allocation fine, and any extra recycling can be bagged up and left beside it for collection.
“But if you regularly fill up your blue bin, now is the perfect time to permanently increase your recycling capacity.”
The extra bin remains the property of SNC, and any replacements and repairs will also be carried out free of charge.
Bins can be ordered over the phone by calling 01327 322344 weekdays between 9am and 5pm.
