Open Farm Sunday 5th June
Discover the world of farming; join Red Oak Farm at Westbury for a fun and informative day on the farm.
You can meet some of the lovely cattle and see how they are looked after, see how artificial insemination is used as part of the breeding program with live demonstrations throughout the day.
You will be able to meet Ricardo Truffer, a real life Argentinian cowboy and learn about the embryo transfer program Red Oak Farm run with him. You can also meet the first ever Red Aberdeen Angus calves born in the UK imported from Argentina. See what technology George uses to help him run the herds mainly single-handed and learn how calves are born.
Take a walk around the fields and see what crops are grown; take a look at some of the machinery used and how modern technology helps to operate these monster machines. See how farmers look after the environment, you may even see the otter in the River Ouse.
Meet Tony and all his lovely birds of prey and learn how they are cared for, learn why the new farm-building complex was named Red Oak Farm and learn about the history of the site.
On-site catering, ice cream, bouncy castle, local produce for sale, quizzes and other fun things for the little ones and much more.
