Fiori Musicali brings leading classical musicians to South Northamptonshire

Special events organised by classical music specialists Fiori Musicali will be returning to South Northamptonshire this summer.
Thanks to the support of South Northamptonshire Council (SNC), Fiori Musicali has brought many world-class performers to the area for concerts in historic locations. This year’s contribution is a £3,150 community grant.

On Sunday, 24 July they present a concert of baroque concertos at Castle Ashby Church. Top violinists Kerstin Linder-Dewan and Malu Lin Swayne will take centre stage with a pair of baroque instruments made by the same London maker in about 1745. They will also be joined by the Fiori Chamber Orchestra for a programme of classical masterpieces.

On Sunday, 31 July, Fiori’s director Penelope Rapson introduces Andalucian flautist Lina León at Sulgrave Manor.

Cllr Peter Rawlinson, portfolio holder for finance and chairman of the SNC grants panel, said: “We are proud to once again support this concert series, because it gives local residents a very special opportunity to hear world-class musicians right on their doorstep.”

In partnership with Orchestras Live, SNC has continued to support Fiori concerts across the district for 13 years, as well as choral workshops where Penelope Rapson provides a platform for people to learn more about baroque and other forms of music.

The activities are part-funded by SNC’s Community Development Revenue Grant which offers funding for projects, activities and services that are beneficial for the district.

It funds up to 35 per cent of any project, unless the application is made in relation to the Local Community Grant of the New Homes Bonus Grant, in which case up to a maximum of 100 per cent of a project may be funded.

For more information on grants available from SNC and how to apply, visit the community grants page www.southnorthants.gov.uk/grantscommunity or contact Katie Arnold on 01327 322216.

The concert starts of 7:30pm. For further information and bookings, visit www.fiori-musicali.com or call 0333 6663360.
