Remember to recycle
Anyone preparing for a "spring clean" in South Northamptonshire should remember the Farthinghoe Recycling and Reuse Centre recycles 97 per cent of the materials it receives.
The centre owned by South Northamptonshire Council (SNC) will take a wide range of materials and appliances which are either recycled or repaired, so if you have a broken strimmer or barbecue, you might be able to drop off the old one and replace it at the same time.
If you are planning work outside, the centre will take any extra garden waste you cannot fit in your green wheelie bin, along with any building rubble from the more substantial jobs.
The centre also has a good stock of golf clubs, garden furniture, books, and crockery.
Cllr Dermot Bambridge, SNC’s portfolio holder for environmental services said: “Farthinghoe is a fantastic resource to not only get rid of your rubbish or unwanted items but also to find useful items."
The centre is currently on its summer opening hours, 9am to 6pm, seven days a week.
SNC also offers a bulky waste service for items that are too large for most residents to transport.
As a general guide the service is suitable for any household appliance or item of furniture you might take with you if you move.
The service is competitively priced at £30 for up to six items.
