Parents can benefit from the speed and convenience of online booking when reserving their kids’ places on the summer activity hubs from this Monday.
South Northamptonshire Council’s (SNC) activity hubs provide a healthy blend of sports, arts, crafts and games to keep young people happy and healthy while they are off school.
The online booking facility will enable people to book places 24 hours a day, and on the go through a smartphone app. It opens on Monday, 26 June 2017 at 10am, with the programme kicking off on 24 July.
The summer hubs feature a range of guest activities including fencing, tennis, trampoline and swimming.
Cllr Karen Cooper, SNC’s portfolio holder for community engagement and wellbeing, said: “We recognise that, for busy parents, online bookings and smartphone applications can be more convenient than phone calls, so we are pleased to be delivering this new service.
“The activity hubs programme is a great solution for people who may be out working while their children are enjoying the school holidays and we are pleased that they will now be able to book places swiftly and easily, day or night.
“Our team has been hard at work setting up a fantastic and varied programme of sports, game and activities, and we hope that lots of kids will enjoy being part of the hubs’ friendly and supportive atmosphere.”
The online bookings are being facilitated through the Eventbrite website and smartphone application. It will show day-by-day availability in real time, and allow people to reserve spots up until 7am on the day of the event, which is expected to benefit parents looking for last-minute childcare arrangements.
The new booking system will also allow people to search for events by location. The hubs will take place at Caroline Chisholm School, Wootton Fields, Northampton and at Magdalen College School in Brackley.
Full day sessions, from 8.45am to 5pm, cost £18.95 while the shorter session, 8.45am to 3pm, costs £14.95.
Places are limited and must be booked in advance on a first-come-first-served basis.
The activities are open to girls and boys aged five to 15 years old and are split into two age groups, five to seven-year-olds and over-eights.
