Red October

Author: John Riches

The skies over the Towcester area became red on Monday 16th October 2017.

The cause was  hurricane Ophelia. It sucked up large quantities of sand from the Sahara Desert plus smoke and ash from wild fires in northern Portugal and Spain.

One villager passing along the road between Helmdon and Weston took this beautiful photograph of what is a very unusual meteorological event.
