The Rotary Club of Towcester will be holding its annual Young Writer Competition in February 2018. The student’s entries will be displayed in the Library in Towcester from February 12th both before judging and after.
The theme this year is “A Different Perspective” and anyone living in and around Towcester is invited to enter.
The age group is Junior 7 – 10 year olds (age being as at August 31st 2017).
This competition aims to encourage young people to use their writing skills and to write with imagination and creativity.
They will be judged on:
- Imagination relative to the theme
- Ability to engage interest
- Ability to be consistent in the power of argument
The entries can be wither a story or a poem – they can be fiction or non-fiction. A suggested maximum of 500 words is recommended – and the entries must be on an A4 sheet but can be either typed or hand-written.
Winners will receive a prize from the Rotary Club of Towcester and will be entered into the District Competition which is in April 2018 with the Award Ceremony in June 2018 at DeMontfort University.
Winners of the District Young Writer Competition (which will be judged on April 2018) will be entered into the National Rotary Young Writer Competition.
