Red Phone Boxes Saved
A ‘PHONEY’ war has ended with villagers winning the battle against telecommunications giant BT.
Last year, BT announced proposals to remove the traditional red phone boxes but encountered opposition from parish councils.
Boxes under threat included Eydon, Croughton, Upper Boddington, Weston, King’s Sutton, Helmdon, Farthinghoe, Marston St Lawrence, Middleton Cheney, Crowfield, Woodford Halse and Evenley.
Daventry District Council formally objected to the removal of 55 of the boxes following a consultation with residents and parish councils.
BT has now decided not to go ahead with the closures.
