Bookmarks Festival, in Helmdon, will be returning on August 25.

South Northants’ youngest literary festival will be free and offering a number of attractions.

The centrepiece of the afternoon will be readings from three Northants writers, Adrian Magson, Alison McQueen and Garry O’Connor. The three authors will be reading from their work, taking part in a joint Q&A session and signing copies of their books.

There will also be books to buy, stalls, competitions and refreshments.

Throughout the day the festival will be raising funds for the Syrian humanitarian charity Hand In Hand for Syria, a non-political UK based organisation providing care and medical aid for Syrian refugees.

In conjunction with the event, Bookmarks Festival is running two creative writing competitions, calling for submissions from writers of all ages and abilities.

There are National Book Tokens to be won and the best submissions will be published in the festival’s charity anthology  See www.bookmarksfestival.co.uk.

The festival is currently looking for donations of second hand books to be sold at the event, volunteers to help on the day and sponsors.
