Protest On The Final Furlong

Horse riders near Helmdon were highlightng the adverse effects of wind farm proposals near the village last weekend.

Around 25 riders took part in the protest by following the bridleways and byways adjacent to Spring Farm Ridge, just off the Welsh Lane.

Broadview Energy have proposed a wind farm comprising five turbines measuring 125m from ground to blade tip, two metres short of the height of the Nothampton Lift Tower.

With the village of Greatworth only 800m away people object to the potential visual and noise disruption.

Fiona Kelly, of the Helmdon, Stuchbury and Greatworth Wind Action Group said the British Horse Society’s guidelines on minimum distances cannot be (ignored) when South Northamptonshire debate the application next month.
